Top Fail?

Did anyone happen to catch the new US version of Top Gear that is now on the History channel.

It kinda seemed like a bad watered down drink, sure there is alcohol in it but not enough to give you a buzz.

But hey maybe it will get better?

i saw it too, great idea, but it was more of a game show then a car show

I didn't watch it but every automotive forum I am on says it sucks.

I couldnt get past the the helicopter chasing the viper segment on tv, it was just really bad. They just dont have the personality that the uk top gear has. It could get better though but I doubt it.

I didn't watch it because it looked awful to me.

IMO they should have named it something else and just used the concept of testing cars and etc.

Agreed. It's almost like it was set up to fail using that name. It would be very tough to match the chemistry on the UK version.

british people are just more funny for some reason. i think its because i dont alway understand what they are saying. lol

I've watched the first few seasons of the British Top Gear and it was no better than this new versions is. Although they were creating something new, and this new show couldn't even copy something good, but maybe they will get it right eventually. The Top Gear name is waaaaaay too big to live up to, people won't be patient enough to let them get better.

I think the pilot show wasn't that great. I'm hoping the challenges in the next few episodes can change my point of view.

Its because America has NASCAR and drag racing and the UK has GT Circuts and F1 things with right hand turns *gasp* They need to get people who have a sense of humor and REALLY know how to drive the piss out of cars.

Edit: Oh and I don't know how far their insurance company will let them go because of the system here. Over there they let them do things like drive through Alabama with white trash cars and things written on the side such as "Gay Man Love is OK" and "Country Western Sucks" I don't know that this country would approve of that.

It's much easier to make fun of America than most other countries.

I hope it gets better, I just wasn't feeling it. It feels like it belongs on "Power Block TV".

I just saw it and I'm not impressed. The production looks solid but the host have to go. They don't have the skill or presence to pull off their lines. I also can't take a guy driving a $200,000 supercar while wearing a plaid shirt seriously.

I totally agree with overblown. The exaggerated accents are great too

Oh well, Ill continue to watch in hopes that it gets better. Still better than all that stupid bullshit they call reality shows.

The show is getting worst I think, lets face it this is a fail.

What's top Gear?

When I first saw the evo, I was like awesome maybe this will be a good episode, then as soon as they said there going to race downhill against skiers and not say anything about the car except it has three modes I was like fail
