Sick of going slow. I have all the supporting mods, so why the fuck not.

I also got the ARP Stud kit. Next Purchase? Megasquirt, and my 1225cc injectors. I'll have this in January.

I'm out for BLOOD in 2011.

So did you ever figure out why your car didn't make any power? Or is throwing a 1700 cylinder head going to fix it?

How you gonna put new heads on when you had other trouble not related to that.. interesting though.. Swapping the motor seems more practical at this point. But each to his own..lol

Out for blood 'eh? I'll take that challenge. weight lift Turbo car vs turbo car.

Since you have two less cylinders than me, I'll give you two car lengths.

BTW, I don't do the "takes the driver error out" type racing, 1320' off the tree at Byron.

$500 chump.

Holy shit, and here I thought I was imagining things.

http://madcitytuners.forumotion.com/racing-f7/calling-out-t328.htm

Thought you were gonna hand tim his ass this last spring?

Here are the cliffsnotes worth mentioning in case anybody isn't registered over at the deserted island.

"88 T-bird 2.3 Turbo

I'll be enough ahead of Tim in the spring. I'm confident I'll win. If not, its going to be one hell of a race!

I have the mods planned, paid for, and on their way. All I need to do is install them over the winter and tune it.

I think its funny that a lot of people consider my car to be slow right now... and would want to dismiss me in a race. If my cam wasn't worn to hell and I didn't have a nasty exhaust leak at the turbo, it would be a whole different story. And believe me when I say that those problems are first on the list to fix.

I was really disappointed this summer with the car, power wise. Now that I know exactly what the problems were, I'm confident in the power levels i will make come spring."

"I don't want anywhere NEAR that power level, but i would like around 550 at the crank..... which with a good tune I'll probably surpass. 550 HP would put me in the low 11's."

This really begs the question.. why are you ordering a head when you really have no idea what is wrong with your car?

Okay. I did a leakdown test the day that I stored it. I could hear air RUSHING out of the exhaust, so i decided to pull the head. Compression was good. I found nasty cracks in all of the exhaust seats, and the number 2 seat was cracked enough where a hardened insert would not have fixed it. The head is magic cock pony. I'm fairly sure that leaking exhaust seats will completely kill power in a turbo car, but correct me if I am wrong. Obviously I have no fucking clue what i'm talking about. The only thing left that hasn't been changed IS the head, and unless I missed a gaping hole in a piston somehow, the head is exactly what the problem is. It explains the remaining issues i'm having. Part of the problem was a mis-sized turbo, and that was corrected this summer. I regained the ability to drive it around town without issue, but every time I hit boost, the AFR would go nuts and the car would repeatedly pick up and loose power.

Just so you know, I filled up the chambers with water, meaning to check for air bubbles with compressed air. The water just RAN out of the head. I'm pretty sure that isn't a good thing. A valve job was out of the question at that point, and the visible crack in the number 2 chamber made it pointless to go with oversize hardened seats, much less stock sized ones. I decided to look for a good uncracked head, but 99.9% of all the heads for these cars are cracked too, because of Ford deciding that induction hardening was a good idea. The stock heads don't have inserts. I had two options at that point: Find a Junkyard N/A head and have it CC'd to the correct chamber size... and add hardened seats, OR spend the money and buy a Big valve ported head more or less ready to bolt on. I decided to go with the big valve head. It makes sense, since I already have half of the top end package from this guy (Springs, Cam, Followers, HLA's) to buy the rest of it from him. I needed a Head, so instead of half assing an N/A head into it, I decided to fix it RIGHT. As Tim's car sat last spring, I would have been a good race at the very least, had my car been running correctly.

1Twisted6- I'm not locking into anything until I KNOW the car is running right. People tend to get Butt-hurt otherwise. I will tell you this though: If the car is back up running right this summer, I'd be happy to line up next to you at Byron. As far as money is concerned, we'll just have to see. I have no clue what your car runs, and at this point my car isnt making good power, so we will revisit this later on. I prefer dig races anyways, so thats fine with me.

I KNEW I shouldnt have posted anything up about the head, since I had a feeling that people would start jumping all over this thread. The only thing I have to say to people is that I'll prove it on the street/track when its fixed right, and really thats the only place where it counts. Everything else doesn't really matter to me.

Theres simply no other explanation than the two things I've listed above. If I cant fix the issue, the car is getting parted out and I'm starting over. The car has sentimental value to me, but the last two years of issues have made me begin to hate the thing. If it runs good I'll be happy, but if it doesnt I'll start over with something else.

Well, I am sure you think I am a total jackoff for posting what I posted but seriously dude.. you once again exclaimed you were gonna be kicking some ass.

My car ran like shit for YEARS for reasons I couldn't diagnose. During that time I never even hinted at the fact that my car could be fast. Fact is it made good power but was a couple hundred short of my expectations. Turns out my turbo was sized incorrectly, and that was one of the only parts I hadn't swapped. Sound familiar?

You should have done a leakdown test last year apparently. I hope this 1,700 head fixes your car, I really do... if it doesn't you are going to be losing money on it.

Evan

I'm just poking fun. I honestly do hope you get shit figured out with your car. I can't imagine the frustration.

Seriously though, get it running good & let's line 'em up at the track. No money. I'd only put money down myself in a grudge race, & I have no grudge with you, Hell never met 'ya.

I think a good Ford vs GM, turbo vs turbo race would be great.

BTW.... check the timeslip section for what my car runs.

Okay, Fine. Since people have issues with the way I post things, let me edit my first post to "Working on my car in 2011". I'm excited about this next year, but somebody always has something to say when I post about my car. It gets old after a while. If you get annoyed by my posts, don't read them.

Thats the reason why I didn't post the results of the leakdown test when it happened. Thats why i didn't post up the results of pulling the head off. Somebody always has a smart ass remark to make about SOMETHING. Thats fine, though, I'll just keep working on it or sell it, and i won't post SHIT until its up to everybody's standards.

1twisted6:
Thanks man.
The frustration is ridiculous. The car ran better bone stock.... I'll have to go look up the Timeslip thread, but i think it would be fun to do regardless..... I just want to be able to race next year, PERIOD.

blackout we should race when you get your shit back together. ive spoke with some people and at least some people agree that my car is a pretty good gauge of how fast a car in the group is. as we know where my car stacks up against everyone else and is in the middle in terms of speed.

for fun and whatever kind of race you want...let me know.
