| Hey guys, A friend of mine picked up a 5-speed 06 Mustang V8 recently. He wants to get more power out of it and put on some wider wheels. Any suggestions for where to start and what brands for parts are good? I suggested he do a full exhaust with headers and an intake to start and go from there. Lemme know thanks |

| the factory exhaust manifold design is awesome and most people don't see much of a benefit from headers. midpipe and catback are a good start, and most intakes will require a tune or some little adapter plate that makes it pretty much worthless. either way he'll want a handheld tuner at least. americanmuscle.com is a really good site for Mustang parts, lots of customer reviews and installed product pictures. | |

depends. my 4.10's made no difference from a roll compared to the 3.55's. But being an 06, it came stock with 3.31's but there are many other places to spend money first. 1. a good cold air intake kit (C&L racer or JLT) 2. charge motion delete plates (similar to the tumbler valves found on scoobies) 3. Underdrive pullies 4. off road x or h pipe 5. a good tune (which i can provide via hptuners for a nominal fee) like schiller said, headers can suck it for a S197. that takes care of the power, now on to the shifter and suspension. the stock shifter is OK, but not great. An MGW, hurst, etc... will be a nice upgrade. Stock the car will wheel hop your spine right out, but that is easily fixed. A good set of lower control arms and an adjustable upper control arm will rid the wheel hop completely. if he wants to go further, lowering springs and an adjustable panhard rod will make the car look much better. as far as brakes go, they are pretty stout stock and find no need to upgrade until they wear out. If you friend has specific needs/wants let me know and i can better taylor a mod list to suit his needs. That should be a decent start.

| just caught the part about the wheels. several great options for wheels. Bullits, FR500's, RTR's (my fav), GT500, etc...
Americanmuscle.com Latemodelrestoration.com (cheapest but they charge for shipping so it can be more in the end depending on the part) Brenspeed.com Cjponyparts.com
all great places to shop.

X2. Even a N/A bottom-end will take 5-7 PSI as long as there's no detonation. |
