PostSubject: Talon Build   Thu May 26, 2011 4:28 am

So im starting fresh on the talon. Im in no hurry to get it done i just want exactly the way i want it this time. I sold the motor, trans, transfer case. and ecu to a kid from the cities. When we dropped the pan we found out the dumbass that wrecked my car also managed to do enough damage to spin a rod bearing on the number 1 cylinder. The kid decided he wanted it all anyways so he would have parts to start his 6 bolt swap on his 2g. As of now im starting to work on the body. i started cleaning out unnessacary things in the engine bay so i can clean it and make it look brand new again. Heres my progress as of the last couple hours, should get farther this afternoon. Im trying to prepare it so i can fix the rust and get her the long deserved respray.

This is the color and general look im going for.

And these rims

Ill post more pics as i get more done.

Well i havent fully decided on my direction engine wise, im not going for crazy power by any means. Im thinking for the most part it will be built around a 20g turbo so it wont be anything to crazy.

With that kind of build in mind i would run a 6bolt with 90 rods and ross pistons with BSE kit and thats about it for a block. would be able to handle more than enough power for what that turbo is capable of pushing out. IMO 20g kind of suck though. Way better options out now for the price of a 20g.

my progress so far today
I have most of the engine bay empty, i know i can remove a few more things emissions wise but im still reading up on it.

I also removed the front bumper support so i can get the smaller one to make room for the fmic

so this pic shows u how he left the differetial when the dumb fuck drove it. He removed the rear cover until the rear diff over heated and exploded. Im in the process of pulling out the shaft. Does anyone know what i all need to do the 4 bolt conversion

Gonna start working on the rust later today. ill get pics up when i got em

The only thing you need for a 4 bolt is a complete rear end and the cup that go in the hubs. A 1g rod, 2g piston would be a nice combo as well. A e85 evo 3 16g set up would be very nice!

I would either suggest an E3 16G or a holset hx35 with a BEP bolt on housing.

I know of a parts car with a 4 bolt rear end, 6 bolt block and 1g rods...

Listen to Kp

or if thats not enough start looking at tubular manifolds/external wastegates and everything else that comes with a bigger turbo

and my guess is cheap enough to be worth it.

A stock 6 bolt should be plenty for a 20g or similar. 1g rod 2g piston if you are in there; most expensive part is machining the 1g rods to fit the 2g pistons. My 2g pistons were something like $70 shipped to my door. Or 2g pistons and eagle rods if you can find a good deal; doesn't have to be fancy.

An hy35 would be interesting. It's an open port t3 so there are a ton of cheap manifolds to choose from and it has the same compressor wheel as a 7 blade hx35.

Dsm graveyard makes frenkenstein rods for pretty cheap, they sell the combo for like 350. I was gonna run some 272 cams also.

It's something like $100 for a machine shop to machine 1g rods to fit 2g pistons for reference.

Deck height on the evo's are a bit taller or something to that effect so the pistons aren't the same compression ratio as you would expect. Ends up to something around the 2g piston compression ratio(8.5) but with no real quench height. Too expensive for my blood anyway :p
