Maybe stock suspension + powertrain? I was wondering that same thing. I Assume they put the cage in for obvious reasons (doing 150+ through blind corners) That exhaust was not stock either sooo who knows. I don't think I Would take much to get it there though.

| it is either really light or making more power then a stock since that thing really pulled from 130-150 | |

| when Pastrana's 08 STI was in Madison last year I was looking under the hood and couldn't find a single thing different from mine. stock airbox, stock IC, stock, BPV, even still had the TGV's. exhaust was different and it was gutted/caged. | |

That doesn't surprise me. If they were doing something top secret to make that car fast they don't want to be showing it off to the public.

| The idea of rally is to use the same engine spec, 2.0L whatever.
And for reliability purposes I don't think they modify the engines at all. They probably just run the exhaust strait out the bottom or back for weight savings as well as gut the car and tune the suspension.

The WRX STI was a production US spec car running a standard 305 HP turbocharged boxer engine. Some safety modifications were made. The Subaru was equipped with a Lifeline fire suppression system, Hockley Motorsports roll cage, motordrive competition seats, Mintex brake pads (but stock calipers and rotors), and an open exhaust to warn spectators of the on-coming car. The speed limiter was turned off to allow a higher maximum speed; springs and dampers were changed to accommodate the numerous high-speed jumps on the circuit, sending the WRX STI almost four feet off the ground. The car ran on street legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires.
Ya, so its like what you guys thought, pretty much gutted and caged.

| I still think it was sped up. An sti that was 400-700 pounds lighter wouldnt pull to 150 like that. Either way the guy driving was a maniac | |

| when i watched it again and watched the speedo thing they had up there some times it looked like it pulled from 130 to 150 faster then it did at the 100 mark so i think i would agree there are sp ots where it was sped up.

| Epic save by him during the race. And I think that section that he pulls 140-160 so quick is because its downhill...? | |

| idk, even when mine made 300 wheel it fell on its face after 130. and it never even dreamed of doing 160, even on a huge downhill. | |

| I like watching the bikes on this course every year.
I don't think it could pull that hard up top with a stock turbo even if it was falling off a building.
Cool video. | |

| Funny how a stock sti sounds like a lawnmower... I think the speedo thing is false. When it was saying 160mph going through a area that narrow and having shit that close to you things would have been flying by... | |
