Flag football ***UPDATED*** Got our 10 members, possibly 11 in a pinch!

Hey guys

I was looking at developing a different work out routine when I came upon a crazy idea! I was wondering if any of you folks would be interested in fielding a 7 person flag football team this fall? I see the legends sports group here in town has a league that meets every Wednesday night from 6pm to 9 pm for games. Each half is 20 minutes and play about an hour. Registration is $50 a person or $350 for a team. helps pay for refs, uniforms and championship awards.

Anyone intreseted?

I am sorry I read it wrong we need $350 for the league plus $20, per member

I talked with the league commish, he suggested that we realistically look at getting 9 players total. As he points out people get tired and injuries happen and that kind of thing, so it would be wise to have a few. He also suggested we look into sponsership to help pay part of the $350 dollar fee.

So, instead of each guy dropping $50, each guy drops $60 to cover all of the costs. That works out to $7.50 per player per game, which seems doable to me.

That is, if my Mt. Horeb math is correct

I say if we do it, we play sponsored by WI Street and Track.

Our motto can be "You may beat us on the field, but after the game we'll drag you down the 1320!!"

Also, a couple of practices before the first game would be a good idea. That way we can all get a feel for working as a team.

Ok, Mikey and I had a phone conversation about this and we are both dead serious about getting a league going. We need to have two things, and we are going to have them next week:

-Practice

-Meeting

Tentatively keep next Weds evening open. Mikey and I will find us a meeting spot with plenty of space for some practice fun (weather permitting). We are also going to collect the fee's, that way we can get the fee's to the league and get registered to play on time. From what I undertand, our registration fee covers the costs of uniforms and the referee's. I am going to further research league rules and regulations this week, and I will have them with me at the meeting to go over with all of the players.

Sorry to be a problem already, but I won't be able to make it next wednesday. I'm already committed to going to the Brewer game.

I do like how seriously you guys are taking this though. I'd really like to see it happen.

James, if you can't make it I can make arrangements to send you the rule book, and get you some cliffnotes from the meeting

I myself just read the rulebook, and its pretty legit. We will go over this at the team meeting, and I will bring this up right now - one rule is no trash talking. We will have to find a way to be polite about it

If you could, please double check on the fee's and the uniforms when you have time. I read on the site, but to me it looks like we have to purchase our own jerseys. If that's the case, I know a guy who does screen printing (Ole) who may be able to get us some equipment at a pretty good price


For everyone who is playing, I ask that you take care of your body and think of yourself for playing. Mouthguards, etc. are encouraged. I know this is flag football, but that doesn't mean you won't take a hit or seven during the season. For all we know, a team we play may a bunch of ex-Badgers.
