| Alright guys, anyone who has been in my garage (few of you) have noticed that I have way too much non functional shit. Well, I have had this bike for about 1.5 years now with no real work being done. The back story is this; My wife's grandfather and grandmother owned this bike and rode it for years. Charlie parked it away in the shed about 20 years ago and tossed a cover over it after he stopped riding. This bike has sat, and many folks had asked it if was for sale. This bike is very special to him, his wife that died last year and him used to ride this thing all over hells half acre. He offered to sell me the bike, I made him a very generous offer because I didn't want the rest of the family bitching because they didn't get it. Plus he is a cool guy. I figure this thread will keep me motivated to work on this thing. These pictures are from when I got the bike. The paint is in good shape. I am not restoring it. I am going to fix it mechanically and wash it then ride it. Here are the pictures from when I got it, notice we immediately yanked the huge fairing. At this point I have already rebuilt the carbs, stripped and re-lined the fuel tanks and bought new petcocks for the ones that leaked on the tank. I replaced pushrod seals and some other small bits, then found out the sparkplug threads were pulled in one cyl so I stopped working on it in frustration. Not pictured are the dropped handlebars. I put new bars on it a few weeks ago that only have a 2" rise vs. the huge ones that are in the photo. The time has come, my buddy/brother in law is coming to town and we are going to knock this thing out. I am beginning the rebuild now, and hope to ride it in two weeks. I just spend $975 in parts, so I freaking hope I remembered everything. Wish me luck! | |

| Thanks Nate, I actually should have this thing started and running tomorrow. I bought the wrong size fuel line. I am in the process of repairing a bunch of burnt wiring, which I think was due to someone hooking up a battery in reverse at some point.
Ill let you know if I need any help.

| I really started hammering away at this last night. I have an honest 8-10 hrs in it this weekend.
The list is LONG of what I have done, but figure to "finish" this thing to my satisfaction I need to rebuild the forks and clean/lube steering neck bearings. I am almost done fixing the wiring and will get the fuel line tomorrow. I should have it running tomorrow. I have never heard this bike run.
The motorcycle guys whine about how difficult it is to work on bikes, but after working on cars.. this is freaking cake.

| Rode this thing up and down my driveway a few days after my last reply. Forks are apart and steering bearings are out and the races have been removed. They were in terrible shape.
Ill have this thing "done" just in time to store it!
