Motor Build.... Discuss..

Alright, Here's the plan. Once the motor is out of the car, I'm going to tear it down to the heads. After that, its going to a builder to see what's what, and whats savable.

The question is....... WHERE? I've talked to a few different places over the last week, mostly local.

One shop I've not heard good or bad about (never knew it was there) is redi (Race Engine Dynamics) on Stewart Street. I know he does late model builds, and a LOT of Chevy stuff. I stopped by the shp today and took a look around for a bit. He's got pretty much everything needed to build a motor, from a flowbench, balancing equipment, a hot tank and he even has an engine Dyno.

Has anybody heard anything about this place, good or bad? Or do you have a suggestion on where I should take the stroker once its out? When I decide to do this, i want it done in a reasonable amount of time, I'm not going to want to wait all summer on the rebuild. Basically i want the bottom end torn down, inspected, repaired and put back together to the point of me bolting on intake/accessories and putting it back in the car.

You better get that motor out now, this time of year is when those machine shops get backlogged because everyone wants a motor built during the winter!

I have no experience with any engine builders, so not much help there.

I'd say search the site. Engine builders have been discussed here many times. Personally j like kilpatrick's in Waukesha. James has always been fair to me and really enjoys making a street motor.

The guy you talked to is bill. He is ok. I know he whole story with that place but am not doing it from my phone.

I would take it to t&b in Monroe or Bailey.

Another on of the top builders in the area is wegner automotive.

I've heard nothing but good with these people, but be prepared to spend the $$$$$
