| So today i bought and installed a intake filter along with the adapter for the maf plug. I have a TurboXS bov and a bosal 3" spt catback exhaust. Thing sounds like a bat out of hell. Will i be fine without a cobb tune? (keep in mind i have a apexi safc, not the best for the wrx but i heard you can mess with the afr''s with that) Air fuel is usually at 14.xx on the hks turbo timer, and the air/flow is at a steady 1.0-1.1 at idle. So yeah, am i still in the green? No goofy idle or anything. | |

| I wouldn't be beating on it unless you feel like picking parts of your engine off of the road. Sell the safc and use that money for an open source tune. Shouldn't cost more than 200 bucks | |

| Well, it's finally going in on monday to get that stupid bushing/linkage problem fixed, so i don't really beat on it anyways without being able to get into first.
Where's a good place to get a open source tune? thanks

| 14.xx under boost is VERY lean. Get that car tuned asap. | |

What should it be at approximately? - Overboosting wrote:

Instead of getting an open source, i could probably find a Cobb AP v1 for around the same price. Would that be a better idea with the maps? However, i'm having a family friend fix the linkage because i'm a broke bastard.

| Your going to get the best performance/reliability from an opensource or protune. The tunes on an accessport are a one size fits all sorta deal. | |

| Well fuck, i just got back from a drive and it's only going to .5 on the boost gauge (7 pounds or so) on WOT. There's a crack on the tubing near the wastegate so i think i may have caused myself a boost leak | |

| You're gonna have worse problems than that if you go out and WOT that car after mods and no tuning work. | |

| Tune, tune, tune. That should be the first thing considered when modifying, ESPECIALLY with a car with forced induction where knock is much more sensitive and will hurt stuff much faster. | |

| Yeah, i'm not gunna WOT again until i have the money to tune it. As long as everything goes smoothly monday i'l be having a tune within a week or so hopefully. Money is a huge problem at a young age. As far as the knocks go, the sensor doesn't read any. 170k miles too. I'm still debating whether or not i want a cobb or open source. I'd really like to be able to switch between different maps, ex: gas efficient mode, honda killer mode, at any given time i want. Also, fixed the boost leak. Just had a crack in one of the "T" hose next to the waste gate. | |

| It means that these guys are giving you good advice. Listen to it, or run the risk of being shat !on at every opportunity for the next 4 years, justified or not. Also if you complain about getting shat on, you are automatically "playing the victim" and will have that thrown at you as much as possible. Also, SchIller will get some kind of queer hardon about trying to fucking with you, and will follow you around to multiple? forums being the best he can be.....a Fag asshole.
That about summs it up. Any questions?
