| Hey guys,
Just looking into swapping cams in the Camaro, it would be a pain in the ass to do in my Garage. Does anybody have a shop they would reccomend? I just want someone who will do the job CORRECTLY, and with an absolute minimum of hassle.

Nope, smaller. Lloyd Elliot Custom grind. More useable power, probably better torque and peak power, better street manners. I'm sick and tired of surging all the time. If it ain't gonna be fast, it will at least be fun to drive.

| Hmm. Thought that would be a good cam with a 383. Are you going to go with a 22x cam instead? | |

It would have been great with about 2 points more compression. And yeah, something in that range. Plus a bit tighter on lsa. Nitrous is the eventual plan.....I was not thrilled this weekend. I want to take it to the track as-is first, to see where it sits.

Oh, for the most part not that. I mean, I knew the rape train was getting another victim, no doubt LOL. I was hoping to keep up a bit better than that though. Plus, there is obviously something STILL wrong somewhere. I definitely lost low end with the head swap. Also, I'm not 100% confident in the tune. It surges pretty good on the highway at 55-75 MPH... at 75MPH its around 1500 RPMs, not to mention it hesitates a bit from a complete stop, and surges like crazy driving around town. It could be the tune, it could be my o2 sensors are wonky again, could just be the cam. The surge only happens once the o2's start switching. We'll find out soon. I just feel like things could be a LOT better than they are at the moment.

| Wow, that is crazy split on that duration! You might get a bit more useable power by degreeing it back 2 degrees to raise some cylinder pressure! Your power brakes will thank you too!

| I don't think it's a crazy split. Mine is 248/261 .641/.627 with 1.6 rr's. No surging, drives nice! | |

| Like I said, the surging may be the o2s or tune. | |

| You know, you wouldn't think that that particular cam is too big for a 383 but I would probably go with what Lloyd Elliot says, he knows a thing or 2 about LT1's. As far as your car running shitty, get those 02's replaced and make the sure the tune is good. No reason for it to be driving like that with that sized cam. | |

| Its not that its too big for a 383. Its honestly too big for the 10.5:1 static compression. My dynamic compression is really low. The o'2s are going in Friday. As far as the tune goes, Im going to try a different tuner next time. Not sure where to go for an lt1 though. | |

| About 1 point less due to his aluminum heads.... So think about 9.5 or so, if he wanted to keep the cam, all he would have to do is crank up the cylinder pressure by degreeing the cam back a bit cough, 2 degrees cough. Mike | |

Mike Mike you're thinking compression ratio 9.5:1..... However, you are talking about dynamic compression, changing cam events changes cylinder pressure that's dynamic compression. There are lots of online calculators but he will need to know valve event timing to use them along with motor specs.
