Hi All
Here are a few pictures from Cars on State show. I always really like this show because it bring a lot of really cool cars together with people who are for the most part.....not car people. This as you can imagine results in a lot of diverse comments regarding vehicles. I found it fascinating to sit back and vouyeristically listen to people's reactions. Some were rather common "Oh its a plymouth road runner", which they quickly changed once they saw the window tag. Others were very outlandish for example a very nice Latvian couple said " It was the best classic Toyota they had ever seen!" Also I got a few just plain wierd "The paint looks delicious!"
Yet this being said I did have a few issues with the show and where I was placed in the show. These were minor and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
1) First the show needs to be done later in the spring. ( I know this is hard with all the other shows) Yet, for the second straight year the show really lost a lot due to the weather.
2) They need to stop packing us in like sardines. This was most evident early in the morning, when I almost literally cut off a staff person at the knees because he insisted I bring the coronet three more inches forward.....Well, now I felt bad, but I warned him. You try and just inch forward a big block mopar with a reverese manual valve body sometime!
3) I was stuck plumb in the middle of loitering central. I must of been asked 543,642 if i had change to spare? Next year if i park in the same spot i'm bring applications to hand out when asked!
4) While for the most part 95% of the people were great, their were a few pretty big egos down there. Some people had cars that could really back it up. Others not so much, for example I was annoyed by the reaction of one guy down there. Now for his credit the guy did have a nice car. Yet, it was nothing special, other then some notariety because it had been in a magazine. Well he prompted to waste about ten minutes of my time spewing a venomous diatribe about the ills of Quaker Steak and lube. He was pissed because his car had never won best of show at Quaker steak and Lube.
5) Sadly mopar was not represented well
My Coronet, Braton's Dart, a 1961 Imperial, and another really nice 1968 Dodge Charger made up the field.
Well enough with my own diatribe! Enjoy!
