There is a 2JZ sittin in my shop that I think my guy wants to sell? he ended up buying some stroker short block, and some badass head instead. I think it comes with everything but the harness, he wants it for all the plugs i think? But I believe he said you could have it for like $1000 or so? I should talk to him in the next week or so, he works up north so I just wait for him to come back into town, I'll let ya know.....

Thanks man I appreciate the offer but I probably can't use that motor. I'm going to order a 2JZ Front sump motor that will work with my current cradle setup and I also am looking for a VVTI motor and I need complete wiring harness and ECU.

Lets say that it's coming as a package deal so I had to take it. They make kits to bolt/wire them directly into older toyota trucks. Just sayin.

No six speed, I have one in the mazda and it's the reason I lose races to 5 speed cars.
Most likely 5 speed until I can afford to build an auto. You get a free auto trans with a 2JZ that will hold a lot of power, I would just need to take the guts out and swap in a mk3 tail shaft.

I brought the new one home last night. Made it about 1/2 way home before the headgasket fully let go. It was almost a 7M record for most miles driven without losing a stock head gasket. Thanks to JD and Chris for the quick truck and trailer response. Other than that i'm really happy with how the car drives, turns etc.
The head gasket doesn't matter because it's coming out anyway, there was a pretty shitty shake from the front left that went completely away after a few minutes. Not sure if it was tire or ball joint related yet.
I'll be cutting out of work early today to get the car stripped down and ready to pull the engine. Pics to follow.

I've got enough room in my garage at home to do most things I need to do for now. The 88 and my motorcycle are going to a storage unit soon so that I have more room to work when its engine removal time.

I got the car home last night and wasn't really able to get into it after the meet, I took a few crappy cell pics this morning on my way out the door.
The roof broke off....weird
So last night on the way home it had a catastrophic failure of the coolant type. I was sure the head gasket blew so today me and Matt (NaSti) decided to start tearing the bitch apart. The stock turbo on this thing is pretty stout (CT26)
I decided to start it up and it started and idled perfect so we began to doubt the head gasket theory. Instead we found this stupid little house way down below the water neck that was spraying coolant directly onto the exhaust manifold.
All the lines and hoses are pretty much in the shape you'd expect for 20 years old. I bent a vacuum line and it snapped like a cracker. So off to Oreilys for some hose and vacuum lines. They actually had the hose I needed in stock. WTF Oreilys? So with about an hours worth of work and 12 dollars in parts it was running great and ready to roll.
We took it out and the shimmy was back in the front. At a stop light the intense stink of brake pads pretty much told the story of what that was all about. (we had the roof off) So a new set of rotors and calipers will be on the way soon. Other than that everything is pimp so far, drives like it was built yesterday.

Yeah, mechanically I'm not too worried about little things like this considering the age of the car. The body literally has one tiny door ding on it and that is the worst thing I can find, its ridiculous. The underbody is immaculate so I think it will be a good solid platform to build on.

Wow, that is remarkable considering the age. I didn't get a real good look at it the other night due to it being dark, but the pictures look real clean. You did well for yourself Pete.
