| When are these new 5.0s going to start setting the world on fire like I have been hearing about?
Saw a couple at the track Saturday and they were in the high 13's @ 105/106, most of the newer Camaros were mid to low 13's @ 109-110. |

| There was one running mid 13's at the track on sunday. It still had street tires, not sure if anything was done to it. I've seen plenty of 10 and 11 second videos from private owners on the mustang sites. They are not the joke you are thinking they are. | |

| I never said that. I think that its impressive that the car above is in the 10's with a bit of weight reduction and a good tune. | |

Well, thats funny. I must have missed the part about this being about pretty much stock cars. Tires, a tune, and some weight reduction is pretty much stock to me...... Just sayin'.

| ^ If you think that car is in the 10's with tires, tune, & weight reduction, you sir are delirious.
However, the engines are an engineering marvel to say the least. The way the variable cam phasing works is way cool. As are the tuned headers.

VTEC? It's not electronic controlled like the Honda in the sense of "electronic controlled". Obviously the computer & various sensors play a part in the way the Fords system works. But..... It's a fluid (oil)/ mechanical system. The cams are fixed to a unit that is basicly a cam itself, and as RPMS rise & fall, the cams are rotated fore and aft advancing and retarding the cam timing. This is the simpleton way to explain it. Hope it makes sense. |

Tires, a tune, and some weight reduction is pretty much stock to me...... Just sayin'. saw numerous LS based cars at the track that day N/A running 10's....... just sayin'. heres the deal we all know these cars are pretty badass but all these 9 10 11 second cars are not always real world stuff. some pro driver with unknown true mods running a time. yes not everyone is a great driver but there were like 2 or 3 of them all running about the same time so they all suck at driving and these cars run 10's

| I think its funny that all the ford guys are nutswinging the new 5.0, and the chevy guys are holding up the ass cheaks of everything LS. except for twisted 6. Oh wait, thats just how its allways been. as far as new pony cars go, mustang wins. Challenger is an overweight whore and the camaro is an ugly step child. That said, When the time comes I still want an LSX car. | |

| im not an anything guy but it is pretty easy to compair the two..... hell even with the challenger being a fat pig that is an under performer so to speak. id take one over the others in a heart beat. i have had and do have chevy's almost bought meisters foxbody and work on mopars and would love to own a new or old mopar. point is many people on this site have seen new 5.0's in action and they are not the 11 second street monsters that others on here seem to think they are. | |

Not from the factory. With a tune, sticky tire, and a few bolt ons these cars are making good power and running decent times. Watch the video I posted in the media section a few weeks back. A private owner, full weight, a few bolt ons and a blower and it's deep into the 10's. I only wish I could afford to buy one and mod it just to see if it's that easy or not.

| Might have taken 'till 2010, but 400/400 outa a 302 CID N/A isn't too damn shabby. Especially considering the old 5.0 wheezed out what?, 200-225 horse? And the 'Stang boys thought they had some hot shit then also. Oh, wait, scratch that. Using ricer math with the HP per Litre debacle, that means the new 5.0 should make 800/800 since a 1.8L Honda makes 140 HP. |
