So my buddy offered up a couple subs and an amp that i could just put in my truck because he wasnt using them. He says all I need is the wiring stuff.
So my question is, what do i need to wire up 2 tens and an amp, and where can i get the stuff?

aftermarket Deck? if not then you need a line output converter, power wire, eight gauge or bigger depending on the amp, ground, rca cables, and switch and switch wire if you don't have a deck. most places have kits but they wouldn't have the line output converter

Bestbuy or any other electronics store that sells car audio should have a few different sub wiring kits. Walmart even sells them. Make sure to get a wiring kit rated for a higher wattage than what your amp says it puts out just to be safe.

I got a sweet kit from best buy made by rockford fosgate. Walmart is cheaper but waaaay shittier. Wait for Tusk or Evan to give some opinions. Tusk is the resident expert on the shit.

I currently buy my wire and misc stuff from Darvex.com, though Amazon does have some KILLER deals and sometimes close out specials. You could check out Parts-express.com also.
I have some spare RCAs (I could let one go CHEAP), might save you a couple of $$$ on the wiring kit.
We need to know what amp you're going to be running before any recomendations can be made on the wire.

Savings are cool, but in some cases time is an issue that online shopping cant solve.

^ haha
Always run a 4 gauge kit, because I am willing to bet you upgrade in the future. Agreed with ordering an ampkit off of amazon or whatever. Beware of the 4 ga wire that has a thick insulation and like 6 gauge worth of conductors inside of it! lol

So true........
What if your upgrades put you beyond 4awg?

The truely laughable thing about car audio is the fact that 20' of 4ga will flow damn near 100 amps of juice. 99% of the guys who run 0 gauge don't even really have the current capability to provide 100amps.
That said, since I have a relocated battery, I have 0 ga in my car. Besides tusk, we are in the minority here LOL, that shit is heavy!

Back in my youth I worked for Marquip as a wire terimnator. The first time I had to wire with 0000 I though my arms were going to fall off Those tools were something else too.

Ok. What is the modle number on the amp? 500W RMS or 500W MAX. Huge difference. We can go from there. Gonna say 8AWG is going to be the ticket in your app.

A friend of mine works at best buy and hooked me up with a 4 guage rockford kit. she got it for like half of what it would have cost on amazon. I was really hoping it would come with directions but it didnt, so who wants to help me install it? I should be getting the amp/subs today

Alright. They stopped working. I re wired the back of the amp, checked the connections on my deck, all the fuses are good, and the little green light is on the amp. Im at a loss, anyone have any suggestions?

smell the amp, does it smell burnt, and make sure your remote wire is hooked up, and also your rca's are in properly, check your ground. etc.
