That's a nice looking 3. Glad someone is doing something different with the regular 3s to make them not so run off the mill.

you can use the cx7 motor but u can't use the cx7 tranny...you will need to use the ms3 tranny if u were still looking on finishing ur build....

6spd swap would actually probably be easier then building the aut?

yea it would be awesome...but it'll be a while before i do it..have to save up $$...want to look around for a smashed up cx7 at a junk yard and get the motor pulled....ive been lookin around and for the full motor and trans it would cost close to 8 grand. so for now im gonna drop another 3 grand into my car and just build the shit out of the motor.

I say don't touch the motor...just turbo it and enjoy the extra 120 hp everything will handle it fine

Yea but if your not going over 10psi they will be fine the auto trans will go way before the rods will. The guy who made the reactive turbo kit ran it up to 12 psi and after a few hard pulls he had some piston problems, and that was it. If your ok with 250whp I really don't see a reason to build the engine at all:/

Very true, which Is why you end up with the fact building a Mazda 3 is not cost effective

well...isnt the whole point of modifying a car because its something you enjoy and want to do? when something makes you happy and its a passion of yours...money shouldnt really be an issue. so for the "cost effectiveness"..im 20...live with my family. moneys not really an issue right now lol. i love my car. and ive been researching turbo-ing my car for about 2 years now. i know all the good and the bad. i dont really see why it would matter if i build my motor first or just boost it. i think it would be safer to build it first. plus, a little extra power from what i throw into it wont hurt. im leaning towards doin the cx7 swap cuz the motor and trans and handle the stock 15.5lbs of boost. wen i do turbo it tho, i only plan on pushin somewhere between 5-8lbs. i dont want a monster...just want somethin a little bit faster Smile and i know the whole "just buy a speed" well...if they made them in a sedan, i would. love the speed3, have driven my friends numerous times, but i couldnt see myself driving a hatch.
