PostSubject: Clutch (Warning Shit Ton Of Pics!)   Clutch (Warning Shit Ton Of Pics!) Icon_minitimeThu May 06, 2010 2:27 am

Okay well last week Wednesday i replaced the clutch in my car.. I pulled the motor, pulled the clutch, got the flywheel resurfaced, and put the new clutch back in, and re-installed the motor/put the car back together; in roughly one day. I know that may not seem good to some of you lol but im proud of myself for it, because as some on here know subarus are a little different than other engines lol. I did some the night before but otherwise it really only took me from like 8am-10pm.. Then after i test drove it, it was driving so nice, then around 5 miles away from home it just fucking died and i couldn't figure it out that night... So i had to fucking walk back home at like 1 in the morning.. I ended up forgetting to put bolt the starter power wire back on and the intercooler pipe popped off to thats why it died and why it wouldn't start again.. But anyways heres the pics... Sorry some might be out of order but idk.. If u have any questions let me know..

Thanks to my buddy Mike Keleny for helping me, and Evan for letting me borrow his engine hoist.

I dont really understand the point of your stupid ass Preston... I wasn't saying that my shit was clean at all i was just posting pics of my clutch swap.. Sorry your nerdy ass can only say shit over the internet and not to my face..

And yes franz.. lol i did, my wastegate vacuum line touched my axel and burnt through it. So thats why my wastegate didn't open and i think my fuel pressure sender for my gauge took a shit so i dont really think that i have problems with my fuel pressure... Now just to get another front 02 sensor lol..

Would you drop that cherry picker back off at my house on monday? I am leaving for the weekend and have decided to tear the pooparu apart next week.

My question is, why running such a heavy duty clutch? Everything I've ever read about WRX's says if at all possible run an oem spec clutch....

Also you prolly burnt up the first one cuz you're not really supposed to slip heavy duty competition clutches at all....

Just my $0.02

it's not that heavy duty of a clutch. I didn't go out and buy a double or triple plate clutch. You have no clue what is done to my car nor what my intentions are with the car. Maybe I was planning for the future.

That's like Saying sure u can run a oem clutch on a evo that u might be throwing a gt42 in. What's the point? If my tranny blows up then it does.

I don't even know u... Lol don't assume.

1. it's not that heavy duty of a clutch.
- Its is compared to an oem spec one. Lets see, 500+ ft/lbs vs. stock about 300 ft/lbs. I'd say that is considerably more.

2. You have no clue what is done to my car nor what my intentions are with the car.
- What like a ported vf22, fmic, prolly dp, exhaust...etc.... You making over 300 ft/lbs with that setup? Is anybody? Shit act's street disc holds 400+ ft/lbs which would still allow for a ton of room for mods.

3. Maybe I was planning for the future.
- Oh so you'll have a rotated 35r setup on the stock 5spd in the next few weeks.....?

4. That's like Saying sure u can run a oem clutch on a evo that u might be throwing a gt42 in. What's the point? If my tranny blows up then it does.
- Wut? Can't even answer this because it makes no sense. I'm saying since you're not making 500+ wtq and you don't even have the ra gears in your trans, why risk putting extra stress on your trans. I'm sure you are still within the limits of a stock clutch, which will be a lot less stressful on your trans. Ok so you plan on going big, then why not get a street disc which will still be less stressful than the clutch you have now and you'll still not come close to the limits of that clutch.

You already put it in so I could care less at this point. Maybe you'll take this into consideration when this one is burnt out in 8 months. All I was trying to do was pass on some info that'll save you headaches later. Its fine do what ever you want because after all its your world and I'm just living in it.

Ur fucking annoying...

No im not gonna have a 35r setup in the next couple of weeks... But who said the next couple of weeks was in the future...

And yes a street disc does hold that much torque but its also more expencive.. Maybe i got a really good deal on this one??

And ur the one that said that the clutch i just installed was "such a heavy duty clutch" and now ur saying that it isn't that heavy duty of a clutch... So i dont really get ur point.. Ur the whole one that started this and if thats all that u think is in my car than it is. But just let me build my car the way that i wanna...

And do u even know anything about subarus..??

Where did I say its not that heavy duty? You have a six puck that holds 500+ ft/lbs........

Hopefully its in 'the future' is in the next 8 months, isn't that how long the last clutch lasted?

As I said above its your world and I'm just living in it.

I noes nuffin bout Subarus. Cept they has 4 wheels, is a 4x4, has a Mike Tyson motor, and go real fast..... Rolling Eyes

clutch torque ratings are at the crank, so the 300 ft lb rated one would have no chance even with a vf22 on pump. Put E85 into the mix and we're talking 350 wtq with that setup. I mentioned to Cody that 6-pucks wear faster on the street, which is what rogue is getting at. If the 5-speed breaks, it's nothing a 6-speed can't solve. hehe
