Fixed my "intercooler pipe blowing off under boost" problem. Boosts 15 psi no problem.

Once I put my intercooler coupler on incorrectly and didn't get it tight because I couldn't see it well. Instead of blowing off my car made this kickass sound like a dying goose above 6 psi.

I recently put on some converted DSM side mounts. One of the pipes was to short so the last person extended it with a pipe that had no lip.

Took it to skunk this morning to weld a longer section off of my stock IC to extended it where it needed to be and with a lip from the stock pipe. Now the clamp has something to hold on to.

Did shifter bushings today.

New ones:

Old ones:
STiedVR4Guy's VR-4 Build Thread - Page 5 2012-04-29_13-16-38_707

A nice improvement, drove it around a bit. Feels a bit stiffer.

There are a few but because of the angle of the rear diff and transfer case it is recommended to go with a 2 piece if you still drive it on the street. I found this one for $600 and most of the 1 piece ones are carbon fiber and $1000+ used.

It feels a little smoother. I have not had it past 110 so I am not sure if there is any vibration yet. I might have to add a few washers to the studs where the carrier bearing is so it will be a little more level. But for now it feels a lot smoother during acceleration and shifting. Less slop I guess? Not a night and day change though.

Once I get the steering rack thing fixed and have it aligned again I will see if there is any vibration then.

Quick question, why no t-bolt clamps? Looks good though.

Oh, in that case, I'll get some when I get a hard-pipe kit. For now I don't think its worth the money. The turbo's aren't capable of making enough boost.

I don't know what size piping that is but I have a shitload of T bolt clamps at home from when I had 2.25" I/C plumbing.

I've never had any issues other than this one and my Y-pipe. And both of those things were because of no lip. I have remedied both at this point and I can hammer on it with no problems.

Thanks for the offer Evan but I don't think its worth the time dicking around for no extra gain. When I get hard-pipes they will come with the t-bolt clamps

Yeah if the hard pipes come with T bolts there isn't much reason to get extras. Mine do say turbonetics on them though! lol

Got some work done on the car this weekend.

AWS delete:

Out of the car

All the stuff
STiedVR4Guy's VR-4 Build Thread - Page 5 2013-05-25_13-43-21_209_zpsdedd3f0d

No more stuff, locked in with arms, and plug the hole in the diff
STiedVR4Guy's VR-4 Build Thread - Page 5 2013-05-25_16-55-14_321_zps0dea5b7b

Minus 30 lbs!
STiedVR4Guy's VR-4 Build Thread - Page 5 2013-05-26_12-22-30_46_zps484800ca

Supposedly this was listed as a 14 hour job to just do the AWS delete. Clearly they are fucking noobs because it took us 8 with time out to go cook some food for lunch and sit down to eat.
I managed to balance that whole thing on the jack, lower it out of the car, work on it, and put it back without falling off.

Seems like the AWS assembly would be a sought after piece. Any truth to that? Nice work so far.

Not sure, mine was in perfect condition with no leaks so I saved it without bending anything. I also had an idea to use the thing sitting on the diff which I think is a pump as a cooler for the center diff (just run AN lines up to it which circulate fluid through it).

We'll see.
