2010 ITR build thread!! UPDATE 2.25.11

Well as some of you know I already put the car away for the winter and started the winter build. Seen you all are cool, I thought I'd share..

I'm doing a full rebuild on the ENTIRE car.. every thing's getting powder coated/painted, all new gaskets, bolts, hardware ect.. I'm also shaving the bay...

As far as David's you'll have to ask him.. he has some good plans also!!


Ariel, I'ma need your welding skills on my o2 neck to block off the heater hose outlet.

sure just LMK mang I'm not hard to find

UPDATE:

Did some more tear down, and started prepping the bay for welding.















Funny how you can store an entire car on an 8' bench.



More to come. Shaving a by is not for the lazy person, I'll be sanding till I bleed, and then sanding some more..

Hope you have a good heater! Your gonna be hibernating in that barn.

it's fully insulated..and I have a big barrel stove and about 6 cord of wood..i'll be good!..lol

Sweet.. So does that mean you have one with the plate on it? if so what do you want for it....

Well I met up with Ariel, ( thanks bud ) and we are going to work out a brake booster delete plate for my ITR. Since I use to be a AutoCad nut, I thought I'd draw up something to get started till the Willwood Master Cylinder gets in. Pretty basic for now till I can edit it and add the parts for the MC to bolt up on to.

Little more work, put in correct hole diameter and countersunk.

nice you can make me blueprint and everything huh????

Yeah.. I told you I was a cad nut..lol.. I can even convert it to Solidworks if you want. Otherwise I'll just bring you the print that shows all dimensions. LMK what works for you.

I just need a print.

sounds good. I ordered my Willwood Master Cylinder so once that gets in I'll be able to finish it up.

And do you want to take measurements for the Billet VC i'm getting?

Not much to post.. Lets just say I'm a shitty welder, and I might just pay someone to get it done.. hint hint Ariel..lol

Here is my first few welds done and ground down a bit.. As you can see I had to go back and add some more weld in a few places.. More to come.

Well small update.. I took a break from the bay and started doing other stuff I need done.

First was to plug the fitting that went to the engine for the heater. and to weld/plug the h2o neck ( big thanks to Cletus with Boss and Sons for welding that up for me, pic will be up soon)

Then I started redoing parts for my motor. I did the thermostat housing and h2o neck, distributor, ect.

Here is the mani.

Clean and degreased and recleaned. Then I put a coat of self etching primer on.



Then several light coats of high temp paint, then clear.

Looks factory new.

Looks good...anyone will have to appreciate the time and effort that you took to go look over every detail. See im the same way. I just have a shop. If i did..wheelchair or not i would be out wrenchin on my car right now! Kuddo's man, great job!

UPDATE ON MY CURRENT PROGRESS:

I got my carpet in.. I'm going back to my OEM JDM Black caRpet. Since I sold my Red Recaros and got some new PIMP Bride Gias Carbon Kevlar seats.



I might bring my seats back from my parents when I go see them for our annual Christmas Extravaganza if I can fit them in the car.

Only other thing is I got super rare to find Spoon pit crew jacket, and Type-One Hat.



It's the one theses guys wear.

Since I'm still being the anti-welder..lol

Started on the trans at work today instead of 'working'

Cleaned it all down with brake Clean, then with steal wool then brake clean, then sprayed it down with water acohol mixture and wiped dry. Only took pics of when I just started.





Taped up where I didn't want to paint.  Then primed it up with self etching primer of course.  Here it is after a few coats.



Then painted on light coats of paint.





I will let it dry for a day or two then go back and clear it all.
