But Ive decided to do an XP8 clone.


For those of you who have NO idea what I'm talking about, read this:

Basically, Ive located all the body parts that I would need to have, including all of the racecraft suspension components. Obviously, the Magnesium wheels, if they were available, would be super expensive, so I found a set of saleen clones that look almost identical.

The motor..... thats another story. It should be pretty straight forward to supercharge the 5.0, and tune it since its OBD2. Which route I want to go, I'm not sure. I'd like to keep it conservative, but make a decent amount of power. (by decent, I mean at least 300 at the tires) I could also leave it the way it is.... but whats the fun in that?

One thing that I'd like to do is a full leather interior, and a carbon fiber accent package.

This seems like a lot of money for no good and results.

1. you are going to have to paint it unless you want it cat shit brown

2. since I am assuming you're going to use the saleen decals every racer shit box is going to try to race you, and with 300 wheel you are going to get your shit kicked in.

3. it seems like a lot of money to spend with a very small resale market, especially since it's a clone.

4. with the amount of money you spend on this you could make your car much faster

Alright, enough fun. Not doing an XP8 clone, but I am doing some stuff over the next couple of weeks to the explorer.

First on the list is the body color bumpers, front and back. I have 2001 sport bumpers the same color as the rest of the truck already. Im tossing around the idea of painting the rear hatch pillars body color as well, along with the grille surround. I think it will turn out nice. Ive also been considering wheels.... but I havent found anything I like yet.


Ideas?

Yeah, thats the plan pretty much. I got the bumpers for free off a t-boned truck...... and if I did the extra little painting here and there, it wouldnt ammount to much.

I miss-typed earlier, the bumpers are off of a 2000 explorer. I know everybody hates the Explorer with a passion, lol, but its a good DD and a decent vehicle. I just want to make it look slightly different.

Is the point of this whole shit thread that you're putting bumpers on an explorer?

Explorers are terrible vehicles, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
