Stock Motor 2011 5.0 TT makes 890whp on 91 with 12 psi

I don't belive it. That pretty much defies physics to make that at 12 psi. Thats some bs marketing to sell turbo systems. Look at the size of the turbo it's tiny.

Boost is a measure of restriction. A more efficient motor will make more power at less boost.

^ very good. take a look at some other engines like an LS7 or a E60 V10 BMW and they arent even making those kind of numbers with that boost, especially a stock engine. The coyote is bad ass, but this one is a little smoke and mirrors.

Yes. However the heads on the coyote motor are stupid good. Rumored to out flow the yates d3 nascar head.

yes I know what boost is and yes the coyote is an effcient engine, but 800 whp at 12psi on 91 oct is pretty far fetched.

The set up was testing some different turbos, they were running some 67's on that test, and yes they didnt make it to last just doing R&D on the turbo's and the kit it is not a set up they plan to take and drag race with a stock trans and motor. The MT-82 is a getrag unit which is a german company but those trans are built in china and yes they had some problems with the early units and have corrected most of the problems. As for the shifter it is remote mounted and is a bad design in and of its self but with a good shifter it is much better. I still think its great what they are doing with this new motor.

I guess my point is, while it might be far fetched and unlikely, you shouldn't make those assumptions without knowing the full combo. All we know is that it has a couple turbos on it.

Keep in mind it has 2 turbos and is 11 to 1 comp. and they spun that mofo up.

shouldn't we be more worried about the cfm the turbos are actually flowing at 12 lbs of boost, instead of just worrying about the psi by itself?

I think I understand what matt is trying to say here..... Yes those motors are bad ass but if the motor makes 400 crank under one atmosphere it should take about another atmosphere to double the hp....... So it should take 15psi to make 800ish. No matter how well the heads flow on an NA motor they are flowing under one atmosphere of pressure. Double pressure, double flow, double hp, is the general rule, but is usually a bit short on the hp end. So based on that how does it more then double the base hp, by a fair bit, on less then double the pressure.

Supras make in the 800's on stock motor all day. They do it with a little 6 cylinder and only one Turbo so what's the big deal?

Not to mention the fact that those motors are 19 years old.

are you referring to Paul's (or whatever his name is) truck? The stroker? If so, well then it better be making more than 450whp NA with a stroker and better cam/heads. And what matt/steve are saying is kinda true based on physics and stuff.

And thunderballs, they might outflow them up to .300 lift which isn't super hard to do because they aren't designed to work there. Like I said, look at the M5 5.0 V10, the same 5.0 liters but it makes nearly 100 more hp, so guess what, its going to also make more hp per pound of boost. Or the porsche 4.0 that makes 494hp, also, more hp per pound of boost, its kinda the way it works.

No argument here, that is an awesome piece of technology and one of the best motors (at least in my top 10) ever created.




But in all reality, when was the last time you the big three trying this hard to outdo each other? Thats what this is all about IMHO. Its not about brand loyalty, it about some amazing vehicles.

I was not trying to say it was some sort of big deal just pretty cool what they are doing with this motor just like the 2JZ is a great factory motor as well and can make a shit ton of power. Tye yea I was talking about Pauls truck which has stock cams and heads just a few extra cubes it was 500 fwhp stock and through the auto they made 380-400whp so his made about 50-60 whp with the extra cubes or around there.

Steve is right on with the math. I could see low 700's at 12 psi no problem. But my thought is the 91 oct fuel 12 psi and 11:1 compression would result in only being able to run 12-14 deg of timing. The race gas pull is more believable.

Yes it really is a stock motor on 12 psi.

It is however on a happy dyno. It was tuned at 5500' and they used a really high correction factor.

Being that f/i cars loose less at altitude than n/a cars the dyno read ~10% high.
