and its not about how much boost it can take, its the power it makes.

that dsm that ran a 6sec pass is about as fast as a non tube chassis drag car will get, no doubt. but in the nhra and nmra those cars run 2000hp for 1-2 seasons racing almost every weekend. a 6 sec dsm wont do that.

you can only make so much on the same 15 psi. add timing and hurt the motor. no. turn the boost up.

well i have seen the ams evo blow up about 5 times for every pass it makes so yea, thats what im saying.

that evo was making 640whp , the stage 3 shortblock was a hair over 3k (looked at buschurs website) and it lasted over 70k and 5 years. and it was making that power the whole time

Haha a few weeks after ams set the standing mile record (it blew up on this pass as well). Mike reichen got his evo together and slaughter ams's record with a 237mph in a standing mile, I thought that was great. I understand what you are saying but there is always two sides to everything. There have been countless high mileage stock 4g63 that have made 500+ for years. The record for a stock 7 bolt is 10.3 @ 136 (the head has never been off the car) and a stock 6 bolt is 9.9 @ 140mph. I think thats pretty impressive for a 2.0 liter thats 20 years old. Mr. peepers has a stock 6 bolt and is making just under 500whp on a dynojet and daily's it. I would trust that car to go anywhere. In my opinion if you know what your doing there is no reason why a dsm can't be reliable as anything else and still make a lot of power.

^ and that just might be true. they just attract some pretty stupid owners for some reason. but there is also a big difference between 500whp and 900whp. im pretty sure that ams evo blows up on the regular. but one at 500whp would probably last a long time.
