| Looking to get rid of the Gangsta rims this year on the Camaro, but Im not sure what I should replace them with. Ive been looking around at a few sets, just not exactly sure how big i should go out back. I think I'll be running Nitto NT555R's out back. I want to run a 17" wheel as well (any smaller won't clear the Vette Brakes). I'm thinking a 17X9.5 wheel on all 4 corners at this point. I'm really not sure what I should use for front tires, but I'd like to get a set of 6 wheels, and just swap the drag radials out when needed. That way I can DD the car if I want. Any direction you guys want to point me? Not set on the style of wheels either, but I like the way these look: http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/Wheels-for-Camaro_4/C5-Deep-Dish_7 | |

| They look fine but they are too heavy and too tall for serious racing. | |

| WAY too heavy. Plus 18" drag radials are fucking expensive! | |

| why in the hell would you need a 9.5 wide wheel? planning on running 3XX tires??? Not needed in the slightest. 8.5 or MAYBE a 9, tops. I have done some research and it seems like wider than 275 for the street isn't going to give a benefit. Because the pounds per square inch on the tires gets too low with such a wide contact patch. a 275 will fit on even an 8" wheel. | |

| My experience says the M/T's run wide. They specify rim width for each tire size, so this isn't exactly rocket surgery. | |

ohz noezzz! so much flex. That car is going to be raced in a straight line with a radial, it will be fine. 275 is too much tire for a daily driven 8" rim. 235 or 245 would be ideal. Im pretty sure you were the one that said "I have done some research and it seems like wider than 275 for the street isn't going to give a benefit" or am i misinformed, we are talking about daily driven and not tracks? | |

| well in the drag radial class when the norm is high 7's in the quarter with a 275 et street, it should probably be pretty sufficient on the street. And many many people have 275 on 8" wheels, and have done so without issue. | |

| I've run a 275/60/15 on a 8" rim for lots of years, never an issue. I'm pretty sure that's the recommended width for a 275 anyway. | |

| If you guys would bother to look at the link I posted you would see that MT says 15x8s for 275s are recommended. They also say that 275/40/17 isn't recommended for a 17x8. | |

I did....20 years ago. Like you said it isn't rocket science. All you need to know is the tread width of the tire. Recommended rim size would be +/- 1". With that being said, if you have a tire that has 8" of tread recommended rim size would be 7-9. 8 being ideal.

| ^ Not poking at you guys, since you run the correct size tire wheel combo. | |

| Thanks for the info. I t looks lime a 275/40r17 on either a 9" wheel or a 9.5" wheel would work pretty good. At least with the Nittos. I like the MTs, but I want something a bit better on the road if I get caught in the rain, and a bit better wearing if I leave them on the car for extended periods. Ive heard that the nittos hold up better (wear-wise) than the Mickeys. | |

| I can say the nittos will last a while longer than the mt's but they won't be as sticky...its always a compromise...but both will be far better than the current sumitomos | |

| I have the 555's non r on my truck.
They wear extremely well and traction isn't bad as long as you don't think the accelerator is an on off switch.
